LB Outing To Settler's @ Clarke Quay

The outing was a tough task to complete. 1st, there was the lukewarm response from the seniors, then silly zenov procrastinated and only booked the settler's the evening before, where he was faced with FULL HOUSE for both the HV & CQ locations. Luckily, someone cancelled his reservations and the befrienders managed to get a place at Clarke Quay's Settler's.

The meeting place was at Clubroom, 5pm, where the befrienders had a warm-up session to Settler's by playing Stock Market. Then, it was off to Kent Ridge Bus Terminal to take bus 33 to Clarke Quay.

At Clarke Quay MRT station, we picked up 2 more befrienders and it was off for our evening of fun!

The session started off rather gloom, as the realization that there was no main course available for us sets in. But the store assistant was very warm and hyper and managed to pick our spirits up with her incessant chatting and suggestions of no-brainer games =)

The highlight of the evening was the early b'day celebration for the Sept babies (arggghhhh... cos none of the aug babies showed up... haha...) tC & mingwei. The 'cake' was a simple ice cream scoop topped with candles with courtesy of Settler's. yup... kudoz to the store asst (still dunno her name), who went all the trouble to get the candles and prepared the stuff.

Finally, we thought we had enough of the games. After all, we still had to catch the last train/bus! We had, but to leave the place and set off on our way back home. Considering that most of us only got to know each other just less than a week ago, it was really a very wonderful evening and brought us guys closer ; )

hehe... So for those peepz who missed this outing, please dun get jealous, cos there will definitely be more outings to come this sem. And remember our regular visit this sat, 2 Sep!!!

We'll gather at CSC Clubrm on Friday, 5pm. Please inform zenov (98452348) on whether you are attending by Thursday evening. People who are keen to attend, but can't meet at 5pm due to lessons are advised to go BV Settler's on your own.

Bye Bye Outreach, Hello LBFD!!

CSC Outreach ended its 3-day run today (17 August 2006) and everybody was glad that we managed to persuade quite a number of newbies to come down for LBFD to join in the Befriending Experience.

While we were doing the recruitment, most of us also helped do the souvenirs for LBFD. Yep, you guys are gonna be one of the 1st to know about this LB Confidential 2: a bkmark!

It also doubles as a name tag on the day of LBFD. All you have to do is to clip the bkmark onto the LEFT sleeve of your shirt/t-shirt/blouse and calling out names of newbies and seniors alike will be as easy as saying LBFD!

Preparations for LBFD is already rolling. With the souvenirs mostly done, we're gonna do some shopping and gift-wrapping on Friday and then, on Sat morning, go prepare the food for the afternoon.



Working for LBFD

Seniors, please be reminded to mit at COMMONWEALTH MRT STATION at 1315hrs (1.15pm). The newbies will be asked to mit there and it will be nice if you guys are also there to welcome them informally. =) But of cos, it's not compulsory to mit then and there cos some of you may find it inconvenient.

BUT BUT BUT the event starts at 1345hrs (1.45pm), when we will start to prepare and go up and ask the elderly to come down, so pls do remember to reach Blk 3 by then ; )

Reflections on day 1

Hey all~

In case you all dunno who I am... I'm James, year 3 SoC student in the mandarin group, frequently going to guan yin auntie's place~

Well, I also dunno how I ended up manning the outreach booth but... I'm glad I did! As Moderator W said, it was kinda like a gathering for CSC, good to see everyone again after a long holiday~ I actually only came down to see how everyone was (Just to give moral support cause... I didn't sign up to help... *Shame on you James, SHAME ON YOU!!!*) but strangely enough... I soon got VERY involved in it (Stayed from beginning to end!).

I had to float from inside the room to outside the room cause I was helping both LB and HCA booths which was under manned at the start. I was worried that I will do a bad job cause I am so shy and quiet... ^^; However, it was a pleasant experience, talking to freshies and sharing what we do at LB. Can see that quite a number are really interested in LB and I hope that we can get more as the day goes!

As Mod W also mentioned, Hospice and LB do not clash so it is possible to join both. Been doing it ever since I joined CSC and still hope to do so... even with my crazy module this sem. So those who are interested, you can join HCA too! (Hope I don't get flamed for this...)

Hope to see more people helping out in the outreach. Will be there tomorrow!! (No lecture tomorrow but... kinda addicted to it!)

CSC Outreach Day ONE

hello!

CSC had its 1st of 3 days of Outreach today, aimed at inviting people who are interested in volunteering to come join in the big family! yay!!!

actually, the Outreach was more like a big gathering for fellow CSC peepz, especially after a 3-month long break! We were more interested in catching up and enjoying each other's company. lol but well, this is sure one of our ways to attract newbies. what else, but the joy of togetherness can make volunteering a more fun and enjoyable experience?

haha... enough of the serious reasonings.

LB booth was outside the clubroom. though there was no aircon, it had good fengshui, cos we get to intercept people at 1st hand (so we get to kapok interested volunteers 1st). hmmmm... other than our super AA identifiers, perhaps we should try fitting some flashing lights tmr... haha... juz joking. that's gonna be too effort-consuming =P

people like Wanzhen, Tran, Ching, James and me helped man the booth and shuohan came by to support us morally. people like Tian Lye was around, but was helping out at Hospice booth cos they really needed the manpower. hehe... he should show his face more in LB, cos Tran actually tried to psycho him join LB!

Time flew *shooo!* and Outreach Day 1 ended with a harmonious tone. us Befrienders (whoever left behind) and Hospice peepz (what can we call them?? hospiters?) took a pic after the clearing up.
