Bonding Session at Settlers (25/01)

Bonding Session at Settlers (25/01)

I'm sure everyone had great fun at our 1st Bonding session at Settlers (yea, though only 6 of us were there). Though it was supposed to be Lady's nite, our only lady was Swe Swe (for those who doesn't know, she's the 1 sitting 2nd from the left. oops! I'm sure that was too far obvious. ha..) I'm sure those working there will certainly remember us fondly: for spilling the drinks, twice some more. So lucky. haha..

Anyway, we played Saboteur 1st. Which i blurly exposed myself as the miner by asking: " How u know who is the saboteur ah?" (Actually its just written on the card, lol) And Zenov and Suan Hong sure worked well together as the saboteurs in the 1st round. But for the 2nd round, Suan Hong (unluckily) was the sole saboteur and identifiying himself early in the game certainly didn't help.

Must remember where the vampires are!

Next was 'Dawn Under', a memory game. Oh well, guess most of us were actually guessing where the undug graves were rather then memorising. Guess we'll remember the colours red and green pretty well now, huh? :P After that, we played some ghost game (i can't rem the name of the game). But the main idea of the game was the swap and swap and swap in an attempt to reach the top 1st. More of luck involved in this though (and i was the lucky 1, thanks to Ming Wei for swopping my counter. hehe..)

Last game was 'Swap'. yep, another swap game, which involved, u guessed it, swaping. Which is pretty similar to UNO. Yea, yea, i admit my reaction is slow, but not as slow as Victor's. And if u noticed that Zenov has lost his voice, its really due to this game. heh. But it's a really great game.

Next time, more of u try to come to, yea? Will be more fun! :)

Have a nice weekend!

CSC DAY 07

CSC DAY 07
CSC Day is a day whereby all volunteers as well as residents (children, elderly, intellectually disabled) get to interact with each other. The theme of the day was 'The Lion King', so we had our own mascots dressing up as characters such as Simba, Rafiki, Zazu, Timon, Pumbaa, as well as elephant and zebra.

Volunteers started streaming in at around 12, and residents around 2. For LB side, Uncle Lee, Uncle Tan and Uncle Yeo came down. They were then divided into different colours teams, with residents from the different groups evenly mixed. Firstly, there was an act performed by the mascots, drawing laughter from everyone.

Next up were the games at the different stations, which actually allowed interaction between the volunteers as well as the residents. For example, there was one station whereby the resdents were supposed to guide the volunteers through a 'obstacle course'. Of course, it was the other way round, cause they actually prefered to be blindedfolded (and we would prefer to guide them instead yea? :P) Another game involved the residents throwing paper bags into containers that the volunteers would carry around.

After that was a buffet spread! For everyone to tuck in after a tiring day. And prizes were given out to all the teams. Of course, everyone is a winner! For the grand finale, we had a mass dance of which everyone joined in.

After all the residents had left, we had a short dance session (guess we were too tired for games) At the end of the day, I'm sure everyone had great fun and made new friends too. :)

LB-HCA Exchange Program

LB-HCA EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Yeap, we had some kinda exchange program today. Some volunteers came over from HCA Hospice care. In case you were wondering what HCA Hospice is about, here's a short description:

Basically what it does is that volunteers visit terminally-ill patients at their homes, interact with the residents, and clean up the place, mostly on saturday mornings. For this particular visit, we went to a house at Parkway area, and his nice neighbour was helping to prepare curry, and so there was free lunch. hehe.. Yea, anw, we helped to wash the dishes and clean up the place too. Before I went for the visit, I had thought that it would be gloomly, but its not, seriously. The uncle still looked cheerful, and it was no where appeared sad. Anyway, just thought i would just share my thoughts.[Hey, hey! I'm not trying to promote HCA, just think that it would be good to let everyone know what other RVPs do. :)]

And anyway, after the visit, James and Suan Hong managed to persuade Shang Ren, Jun Jie and Xiao Xuan to come for the visit too for an 'exchange programme'. And we met another new volunteer, Nandini before proceeding to the usual place.

Together with the usual volunteers, we started our visit at around 2.30, cos most of us were late. Blind sisters are doing fine, just that we were trying to find things to talk to her about. Uncle Lee was saying that his asthma was getting worse, and that the prices of the medicine kept increasing. And his life story (as usual). For Guan Yin auntie, heard that she was feeling weak, and that she was saying that she was going to die (lets pray that Guan yin will bless her).

After the visit, some of us went to IKEA to jalang jalang. From animal viewing, to art appreciation and flower arrangement, we never knew there were so many things to see at IKEA. Must go there for our BBS next time.

Certainly a tiring day. But worth it, knowing more about other RVP and knowing new friends too. Must have more of such exchanges in future too!
