LBFD 07~! (25 Aug)

Long Boring F Day? Nope~! Its LB Familiarisation Day~! (aka Let's Be Friends Day to me)

[1st contact made] "1:30pm at Commonwealth MRT station", the hand-made ticket to LBFD reads. We should have written the time in CAPS (somehow). Being nice people, Sin En, Swe Swe & I waited half an hour for the latecomers LB freshies. We had the perfect plan. The tall freshies could spot me, freshies with an average height could notice Sin En & the height-challenged freshies could see Swe Swe (name cancelled to protect the subject).

[Dispatching of Volunteers] We had so many volunteers & I am not exaggerating. The uncle in the MRT passenger service centre even publicly announced with conviction, "You people are blocking the passage of commuters! Please move away! People complained already!" That was the cue for our 1st wave of volunteers to set off.

[Set foot on objective] There were panda cakes, hot home-made barley & uncooked macaroni(?!). We played Bingo with the L-derly, weaved macaronis through strings for them (yes i saw it) & gave canned food & dried rations to them~! (Courtesy of the best Project C.A.N. committee ever) Personally, I found the weaving of macaronis through strings a brilliant activity for the L-derly. Maybe we can challenge them to weave strings through needles during Mid Autumn Festival celebration.. Hmm..

[Presentation of awards] "How to use this bottle? =)"

"Each time you come for an LB visit or special event, we will give you some pebbles in appreciation of your efforts. You can place them in this bottle. After a year with LB, you will have a bottle of colourful pebbles!!"

Sweeet! Be an LB volunteer & you become a Pokemon trainer too. Collect them all!

Hahaha it's my first time blogging leh can you believe it!? [I ususally keep things deep in my heart hehehehe^^]

I thought i should tell you about this elderly which we have been visiting over a year! She's the Canto-very-chim ah ma on level 9!!

I must say that she's pretty challenging for me coz her canto really very chim.. (I can't understand what she says most of the time.. keke..) and my Canto is deproving! But the Canto group never gave up over the past 1 year! During the last visit, we took 45 mins to finally understand full what she needs - a horse brand ear drip that can relieve pain in the ear. (Hahaha if Ming Wei wasn't with us, it could have taken a day!!).. and a can of luncheon meat if there's leftover money from buying the ear drip..

Ah ma was also patient enough with us lah huh... 45 mins of repeating the decriptions of the ear drip so many times!! Finally... Yupei (Hokkien actually) set out in her mission to get the stuff, came back in less than an hour and shocked the ah ma coz the wu can rou Yupei bought is 30 cents cheaper than what she bought! For a while the ah ma couldn't recover from the 30 cents shock.. hahahaha and was so damn thankful for Yupei for getting her a better deal!! *clapssss... but i think that pharmacy don't sell the horse brand one so Yupei got her another which I've used before.. hahaha. hope the pain's gone now ^^

For this ah ma we try our best to chat with her about things that happen to her while we clean up the place like if her room-mate is decent and gives her rental.. etc..

Although we are better at cleaning the house than really keep her entertained with conversations, I feel that us visiting her has brightened her up quite a bit..ehem. not i bhb ar...hahaha coz at when we first visited her she was quite moody and quiet.. but now she will take initiative to talk to us!Yup.. i really hope that i can have more of such encounters..(but quality above quantity of course!)

hahahaha quite a long first entry huh! *clapssss i'm really happy that have forged a rather close relationship with this ah ma and it's now time to make it even stronger!

LB Visit (12 Aug 07)

12 Aug Visit

Visit was pretty interesting. Went to Blind sisters with Jason and Marcus. Jason really has a way with the younger sis. We're having a conversation when she made a rather 'interesting' statement, and Jason replied her. (For more details, can check with us :P). But the thing is that after that she kept laughing and laughing, for at least 5 mins. This's the 1st time I've seen her laughing so happily! Really felt so happy looking at her laugh that way. =D

As for Uncle Lee, we (or rather more of he) was talking about politics and about his school life in the past. Sounds familiar.. ha. At first, tot that he wanted to watch TV, but think he still prefers talking to us afterall.
